All our staff are hand picked for their personal qualities, extensive knowledge and experience they bring to Cyclewise. We would not be where we are today without the great people we have in the Cyclewise Team.

Name:- Sue Martin

Role:- Cyclewise Director, Bikeabilty Manager and general dogsbody.

What they bring to Cyclewise :- Sue looks after the administration of Cyclewise and is the friendly voice on the end of the phone and the one who will most likely reply to your e-mails while everyone else is out playing working.

Dan Clemance Cyclewsie

Name:- Dan 'the man' Clemence

Role:- Cyclewise Whinlatter Retail Manager

What they bring to Cyclewise Whinlatter :- Dan has been with us for 3 years and has established himself as the man who can make it happen. With well over 20 years' experience in the biking industry, he brings an unsurpassed depth of knowledge and enthusiasm to Cyclewise. With his finger right on the MTB pulse no one knows more about the current trends than Dan. He is often to be found in the thick of the action and with his dedication to customer satisfaction his appetite to "do a deal" is legendary. If Dan can't make it happen no one can.

Dan is a very keen cyclist himself and also enjoys many other outdoor pursuits such as windsurfing, rock climbing, and has recently taken up surfing.

Ed Westwood Cyclewise

Name:- Ed Westwood

Role:- Cyclewise Whinlatter Duty Manager,

What they bring to Cyclewise Whinlatter :- Ed is an all round excellent bike mechanic and joined us in January fresh from 2 years working in the MTB mecca of Whistler in Canada. During his time in Whistler he gained a fantastic reputation for his knowledge of all things "suspension" and has the ability to strip and service forks almost with his eyes closed, If you have any suspension problems Ed is your man. Ed prides himself on excellent customer care and his professional manner means he is a real assest to Cyclewise.

Cyctech Level British Cycling Level 2 MTB Leader, First Aid Qualified, NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport & Leisure. Masters Degree in Biology.

Ed is a very very keen mountain biker and competes in both downhill and enduro events. You will also often find him out on the trails having a quick blast before or after work.

 

Sam Farrar Cyclewise

Name :- Sam Farrar

Role:- Cyclewise Whinlatter Duty Manager

What they bring to Cyclewise Whinlatter :- Sam is our roadie man and with over 5 years experience in the bike industry his knowledge of all things biking, in particular the road scene, is second to none. He is an incredibly meticulous bike mechanic, knows the job inside out and has a fanatical eye for detail - your pride and joy is very safe in Sam's hands.
His professionalism and work ethic make him an excellent addition to the Cyclewise team.

Sam is a very keen road rider but is no slouch on an MTB either, currently the fastest rider at Cyclewise, he is the man to beat! Bring it on.

 


Miriam Leonard Cyclewise

Name:- Miriam Leonard

Role:- Cyclewise Whinlatter Adminstration.

What they bring to Cyclewise Whinlatter :- Miriam has a BTEC in Business Level 3, comes from an excellent customer service background and is the newest addition to "Team Cyclewise". Alongside working with us she is also studying for a Sports Coaching and Fitness Development Diploma and when not working or studying is also a very keen biker who likes to get out and about in Cumbria whenever she can. Miriam is happy to put her hand to anything and can often be found away from the office mucking in with the bike washing and anything else she can do to help out. Although Miriam has not been with us very long she is already an established member of the Cyclewise family.

Name:- Dave Blyth

Role:- Bikeability Instructor, MTB Coach, MTB Guide, Like-a-bike Instructor, Academy Coach.

Qualifications:- Bikeability Instructor, Cytech Level 2 Mechanic, British Cycling Level 2 MTB Coach, British Cycling Level 2 MTB Leader, First Aid Qualified, NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport & Leisure.

Dave has worked all over the world and has a fantastic depth of knowledge of the biking industry and an enthusiasm to match. Dave is also a great coach and an all-round nice guy. It's great to have him on the team.

Name:- Nick Watson

Role:- Bikeability Instructor, MTB Coach, MTB Guide, Maintenance Instructor.

Qualifications:- BSc (Hons) Outdoor studies, British Cycling Level 2 MTB Coach, British Cycling Level 2 MTB Leader, Bikeability Instructor, Cytech Level 3 Mechanic, First Aid Qualified, NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport & Leisure.

Irish born Nick is Mr Outdoors. He has worked in many of the Lakeland Outdoor Centres such as Brathay Hall and YMCA Lakeside where he developed a reputation for delivering high quality enthusiastic coaching sessions. He has specialized for the last 9 years in the biking industry and is continuing to enhance his reputation as one of Cyclewise's top guides / coaches.

Name :-Graham Beaumont

Role:- Bikeability Instructor, MTB Coach, MTB Guide, Maintenance Instructor, Academy Coach.

Qualifications:- TCL qualified, MBL Trained, Bikeability Instructor, Cytech Level 2 Mechanic, British Cycling Level 2 MTB Coach, British Cycling Level 2 MTB Leader, British Cycling Level 3 MTB Leader, First Aid Qualified, NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport & Leisure.

Having spent many years working in a bike shop, Graham decided (luckily for us) that he would like to spend more time working outdoors. A very enthusiastic and encouraging coach, Graham is certainly one to watch and his colourful character is always matched by his "blinged up" bikes.

Name:- Scott Newburn

Role:- Bikeability Instructor, MTB Guide.

Qualifications:- BA Hons Outdoor Leadership, MTB Guide, Bikeability Instructor, Cytech Level 2 Mechanic, TCL Qualified and MBL Trained, First Aid Qualified, NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport & Leisure.

Scott has been a keen cyclist for the past 18 yrs. He has completed in many C2C rides and several long endurance rides. Scott is also a very keen fell runner and often competes to a very high level and came 1st in his first ever Ultra Marathon.
Scott graduated with a BA (hons) in Outdoor Studies and has for the past 7 years been specialising in the mountain bike industry working with Cyclewise. He is a talented rider with a coaching background to match. Scott and his brother also run New Ing Lodge hostel/B&B which has recently won awards for its Green Tourism initiatives.

Name:- Steve Herd

Role:- Bikeability Instructor.

Qualifications:- HND Leisure Management, Bikeability Instructor, TCL Qualified, Level 4 Canoe Coach, Level 4 Kayak Coach, ML Assessed, MIA trained, First Aid Qualified, NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport & Leisure.

Steve has delivered Bikeability training for us over the past 5 years. A very competent and capable pair of hands, Steve is a first class trainer and always delivers to extremely high standards. Steve is also a highly qualified Outdoor Instructor in many disciplines.

Name:- Charley Oldrid

Role:- Bikeability Instructor, MTB Guide.

Qualifications:- BA Hons Outdoor Leadership, MBL & TCL Qualified, Bikeability Instructor, SPA, ML Trained,British Cycling Level 2 MTB Leader,First Aid Qualified, NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport & Leisure.

Charley has been with us for the last 4 years and is one of our Bikeability Instructors. Charley practically lives on a bike, also working as a guide on Lands End to John O'Groats rides and many overseas biking holidays. Charley also works as an Outdoor Instructor and his wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm is a great asset to Cyclewise.

Name:- Ben Keen

Qualifications:- TCL & MBL Qualified, Senior MTB Guide, Bikeability Instructor, British Cycling Level 2 MTB Leader, First Aid Qualified, NSPCC Child Protection Awareness in Sport & Leisure.

Ben also runs his own outdoor company and is a top class coach in many outdoor disciplines. To say we are excited about working with Ben and all he brings to us is a huge understatement. His coaching is amongst the best we've seen and can't wait to see where the future takes us.

Giles - SMBLA guide and bike hire guru

Name:- Giles Howard

Role:- Always there when we need him, MTB Guide

Qualifications:-
TCL & MBL qualified, Cytech Level 2 Mechanic.

One of our long-time friends, Giles is now spending more and more time guiding and doing photo shoots for Altura than he spends with us his mates. Giles has over 20 years of MTB experience and regularly competes for Team Cyclewise Altura. His local knowledge is awesome and he always knows the right trail to be on. A most trustworthy friend, we are stoked about having him on board. You will often find him loitering in the Cyclewise shop along with his sidekick Gill! (and now his 2 new additions Hamish and Morven - definitely Cyclewise Altura team members of the future).
