Welcome To Cyclewise

Cyclewise is a diverse rider-owned independent mountain bike and road bike specialist business based in the Lake District, Cumbria, who offer a range of services and assistance on all things bike related.

What started in 2004 with just Sue, Rich, Craig and Amy has, after 15 years, grown to a super talented team of 26 with a continuing dedication to “making it happen”.

Rich & Craig delivered the first SMBLA mountain bike leadership course in the UK in 2004. They were then asked to work with British Cycling in the development of the British Mountain Bike Leader Awards and became the first British Cycling mountain bike tutors to deliver the new awards in 2010. We also opened our very own coaching trail in 2010, and have gone on to deliver coaching and skills courses at this venue for the last 9 years.

Our first Bikeability delivery took place in 2005, this is the new cycling proficiency scheme and over the last 13 years we have delivered this beneficial cycle training to over 50,000 children in schools all over Cumbria.

In 2007 Cyclewise were instrumental in the development of the bike trails at Whinlatter working alongside Forestry England to create the amazing trail centre we have today. The grand opening of our Cyclewise Whinlatter Shop took place on the 9th June 2008 and we opened Cyclewise Cockermouth on the 15th of December 2015 – the day of Storm Desmond – but this did not stop our dedicated team and customers – even if we did get a bit wet!

Over the years we have won many industry awards and have never tired of providing the exceptional service we pride ourselves on. Here’s to another 15 years.
