This Bike Maintenance Course is one of our most popular courses and has been created for riders who would like to be to be able to fully maintain or repair their own mountain or road bikes.

This advanced mountain bike maintenance course is designed for those of you who already have a little experience of cycle maintenance but would like to increase that knowledge further to become a better bike mechanic and reduce the amount of time your bike is off the trails. Our Cytech qualified tutors will show you just how easy it is to fix many problems or upgrade a component, saving you both time and a lot of money in the long run. If you are already able to fix a puncture, adjust your gears and replace cables this is the course for you. If you can not complete these basics we would recommend completing our beginners bike maintenance course before attending this one to ensure you get the most out of the course.

Note: Please ensure your bike is clean before attending.
If you require any new parts this will be an additional cost. If you know of any particular problems or you would like to upgrade a certain component please feel free to bring those along with you or contact our shop on 017687-78711 to order the required parts.

    Course Itinerary Day 1
With your bike on a work-stand and your own set of tools (supplied by Cyclewise for the course), we will show you how to service a hub - exploring the difference between seal hub systems and cup & cone. We will then show you how to true a wheel. With the wheels freshly serviced we will then go through the process of removing all major components which includes the servicing of headsets.

    Course Itinerary Day 2
After de-greasing drive trains we can then methodically start to reassemble the bike. We will replace the gear cables, set up the gears and realign the brakes. Finally with the bike fully reassembled we will look at appropriate set upprior to final test riding.

    2 Day Maintenance Course Reviews
I'm just dropping a line regarding the Strip & Build Maintenance Course I had the pleasure of attending on the weekend of the 30th April 2016.  Firstly, what an amazingly brilliant course it was - thoroughly enjoyable, very informative and delivered at just the right pace to be of use and all by a very patient, understanding and knowledgeable tutor so well done on that - I'll thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who cares to listen!

Thanks for a great course. I have thoroughly enjoyed the 2 days and have learn't so much. The tutor was very patient and I do not think there was anything he did not know! I will now be coming back to complete a skills course.

Nick was brilliant. I was a bit worried about not being able to complete some of the elements of the course but Nick was extremely patient and spent the time explaining things to us and didn't mind how many questions we asked him along the way. Great course & great teacher.

The course has been extremely informative and enjoyable. The copious amounts of tea and biscuits were an added bonus. Please thank Nick for me.

Just a quick thank you to the Cyclewise team and Nick who made the course very enjoyable and informative.  I have learnt a huge amount from him so the course met all my expectations and more.

Course was brilliant. Great teacher, smashing facility, good number of participants. Cannot fault it.

The strip and build course was perfect for my level of knowledge and experience. Our instructor had the perfect level of instruction; not too much to patronise but enough to get across important points but also to allow the subject to move according to our needs and bring in other related concepts as needed. The location was great and the kit was just right for what we were doing. The food and refreshments were just right and the weekend really flowed with the other attendees. Perhaps I was lucky that we had a good group of people with similar abilities and who were keen to get on but I feel that the environment and the encouragement from our instructor were also essential. I feel more confident and envigorated after the course so many thanks once again.
