As the only one of its kind - This course will put you on the right track by giving you the confidence to take control of your road bike, not the bike control you and will also show you how to deal with the many roadside maintenance issues that you may encounter on your road cycling journey.

Starting something new can be very daunting and having the best advice and tuition from the start is going to make all the difference. This beginners road bike course will teach you everything you need to know, from getting your bike ready to ride, right through to how to look after your bicycle after you are home again - not forgetting all the fun bits in between.

If you answer yes to any of the following questions this is the course for you:

    • I am looking to buy road bike and would like some advice on the right bike to purchase for my requirements
    • I have recently bought bike and would like to make sure I have it set up correctly
    • What clothing should I wear when I am cycling
    • I would like to know more about basic cycle maintenance so I can quickly fix my own punctures etc
    • I have the bike but I would like to know what other essentials I should take out with me on my road rides
    • I lack the confidence required to really enjoy my cycling
    • I would like to know more about the rules for cyclists when riding on roads

We know just how important it is to feel independent whilst riding your bike and not have to rely on making that dreaded call home to be picked up due to a basic maintenance issue you could have easily fixed yourself. We are also aware of the many dangers of road cycling so we have designed this course to give you answers to the many questions you may have and to keep you safe on the roads.

How fit do I need to be to attend this road biking course for beginners?
To complete this course you do not need to have a high level of fitness - we will be using the roads in the vicinity of our classroom facility so there will not be a lot of miles actually ridden during the day.

What equipment do I need to bring with me?
Please bring along your own road bike and helmet. If you do not have a helmet we will be able to lend you one for the course, just mention that you would like to use one of ours on your booking form. (Please let us know if you are unable to bring along your own bike).
You should also bring along some comfortable clothing to ride in such as jogging bottoms, casual tops and trainers if you do not have any bike specific clothing (what to wear will be covered on the course)

The course will teach you the following:

    • How to set the bike up - so it feels comfortable to ride
    • The basic kit to take out with you - to make sure you are safe and able to get yourself home should things go wrong
    • What to wear?
    • How to put your bike into and out of your car - includes removing and replacing wheels
    • How to fix road-side mechanicals - to get you home quickly and safely
    • Get a simple and easy understanding of gears - when to change up or down
    • How to not be scared of your brakes
    • The best riding positions for both uphill and downhill

The day will end with a chat about what you have covered during the day whilst drinking tea/coffee and eating cake - how every day of riding should end!
