  • Course Description

Our e-bike skills day is a new programme for 2020 and is quickly becoming one of our most popular courses These incredible bikes now offer many riders both old and new the opportunity to get out and enjoy biking in the great outdoors. Here at Cyclewise, we are huge fans of these awesome bikes and with a 20+ strong hire fleet of both hardtail and full-suspension bikes available to hire there is no excuse not to get out there, have a go and find out how much fun you can have on one of these power-assisted bikes.

Whether you are new to e-biking or have been riding for a while, our e-bike skills day is a course designed to give you a full understanding of how to ride and control your bike.

The morning will be spent receiving technical skills coaching from our experienced coach, where you will discover the importance of the following techniques - Rider Positioning, Braking, Climbing and most importantly Descending. Due to the increased weight of the bike, a thorough understanding of these skills will put you in full command of your bike.

The afternoon session will be spent riding the trails at Whinlatter under the watchful eye of our experienced and qualified coach/guide. Not only is this a chance to put your newly acquired skills to practice, but it is also an opportunity to experience the many varied routes and stunning views we have at this amazing trail center.

So what are the E-Bike 1-Day Skills?

Bike Set-Up - Getting the bike to work for you, looking at the saddle, suspension, and brake set up.

Weight Shift and the Cone of Movement - The bike moves, not you! Allowing freedom of movement is where the riding really starts.

Climbing - With more power comes more speed which needs to be controlled especially when approaching uphill corners. Overshooting the corners is a common rookie mistake easily fixed.

Descending – The extra weight of the motor and battery can really affect the balance and stability of the bike. There will be lots of opportunities to learn to descend safely and in full control of your bike.

Braking – with a heavier bike, understanding braking is vital to give you ultimate control. This is a super important technique and one of the most important skills taught during this course.
