  • Course Description

The British Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 Assessment is available to all candidates wishing to complete their MTB Level 2 qualification following their British Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 Training. It is recommended that you leave approx 6 weeks between training and assessment in order to fully understand your training - leading to a positive outcome at assessment.

    Assessment Overview
Assessment for the Level 2 Mountain Bike Leadership Award consists of a practical assessment and a written assignment.

    Practical Assessment
The practical British Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 consists of an all-day mountain bike journey during which each candidate will be assigned to lead a section of the assessment route of up to 10km working with a ratio of 1:4. You will be expected to deliver a flowing journey whilst demonstrating good leadership and navigational skills.

The Level 2 assessment procedure is informal and is designed to help you develop your skills as a mountain bike leader. The group you lead can consist of other riders who are also being assessed on the same day and/or riders who are there simply to fulfill the role as participants on the ride.

    Written Assignment
The written assignment is an open book home study task and comprises of a range of short answer questions. This task is based on the information included in the
British Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 Handbook and other resources provided on the training course.

Once payment has been received for your assessment place, the assessment questionnaire will be sent to you via e-mail (paper copies are available upon request) and should be returned to Cyclewise no later than seven days prior to your practical assessment date. Please ensure you allow plenty of time to complete and return the questionnaire before your assessment day.

You will be required to bring a copy of your First Aid certificate your British Cycling Registration Number and details of your Educare Programme if you did not submit this information on your training course. If you do not bring these on the day or you have not submitted them on your training course, you may be unable to complete the assessment. (Please contact us if you have any questions)

If you have completed your training and are unsure if you are ready for assessment please contact us with any concerns you have and we will help you in any way we can.

Instructor Ratio: 1:4 or 2:8 maximum
    Cost of Assessment:
    £99 per person (1 day)
    Course Venue: Bluebird Cafe
